the Aoi Matsuri or Hollyhock Festival will be held in Kyoto on May 15th (Sun). The Aoi Festival is one of the three largest and most important festivals in Kyoto (Gion Festival in July and Jidai Festival in October). The main part of this festival is the procession from the Kyoto Imperial Palace to Kamigamo Shrine (on the way, it goes through Shimogamo Shrine). The procession consists 500 people in historical costumes, 40+ horses, and two oxcarts.
