Updates about Our New Temple Accommodation Facility


We will start taking reservations for our new temple accommodation facility tomorrow, on December 5th, 2012. The opening of the new facility is on December 10th, 2012.

This is the only temple accommodation in Kyoto which offers its services and Zen meditation class in English. 


Each guest room has a 14.6-suquare-meter bedroom with traditional tatami mats, in which 2 - 3 people can comfortably sleep. Each room also has its own shower room, toilet, heater and air conditioner.  

Our entire facility is a non-smoking area.

The facility has a shared kitchen and dining room. You can make tea, coffee, or basic meals there. The kitchen is equipped with a microwave, toaster, and basic appliances.


Shunkoin is located in the center of the biggest temple complex in Kyoto so you can enjoy peace and silence even though you are still inside the city of Kyoto. Also, there are three UNESCO World Heritage sites (the Golden Pavilion, Ryoanji Temple, and Ninnaji Temple) near Shunkoin Temple.

Opening of Our New Temple Accommodation Facility


Shunkoin Temple's New Temple Accommodation Facility "Tetsuryu-Kutsu (the Cave of Enlightened Dragon)" or just Shunkoin Temple Guest House: It will be the only temple accommodation in Kyoto, which can offer 100% English Service & Zen meditation class. We are getting ready for our opening!

This is one of the guest rooms in our new accommodation facility. The size of the bed room is 14.58 square meters. Every room in the new facility has own shower room and toilet. Also, there are a lot of closet spaces in the room.

The facility has a shared kitchen and dinning room. You can make tea, coffee, or basic meals there. There are a microwave, toaster, and basic appliance.

Unfortunately, we haven't started taking any reservation, yet. Currently, we are planning to open this facility on December 10th, 2012. And, we will start taking reservations on December 5th, 2012. 

Also, we need to set the new room rate for the new facility, as well.

However, the opening day might be changed. We will keep updating about our opening of this new facility.
