My Tought on Osama Bin Laden's Death

At least, the justice to Osama bin Laden brought peace to the people who lost their loved one in the 9/11 terrorist attacks in 2001. This event will obviously take us the next phase in the war against Al-Qaede.

However, his death is the same as the death of Saddam Hussein. There is Anwar al-Awlaki, who is leading a franchise of Al-Qaede. Now we have to face with U.S./Europe born Al-Qaedes, as well. The 9/11 has created Islamophobia in the U.S. and Europe. Islamophobia has created hate against Musilims in the West. The hate and fear against Islam lead U.S. born Muslims to joining Al-Qaede. Thus, we will always have second or third Osama bin Laden.

The story, which Gust Avrakotos in the movie "Charlie Wilson's War", could tell how should react to the death of bin Laden.

"A Zen master who observes the people of his village celebrating a young boy's new horse as a wonderful gift. "We'll see," the Zen master says. When the boy falls off the horse and breaks a leg, everyone says the horse is a curse. "We'll see," says the master. Then war breaks out, the boy cannot be conscripted because of his injury, and everyone now says the horse was a fortunate gift. "We'll see," the master says again".

Now, we have to move to the new step. Compassion and education are the keys to end the war against terror. Send more aids to build schools and hospitals in Muslim communities. Educate own people to understand the Muslim culture and traditions. When we can understand Islam, Islamophobia will disappear from our community. These actions will prevent creating new Al-Qaedes and other types of radical Muslim terrorists.

Local churches, mosques, and temples should hold interfaith talks and classes for the members, especially for the youth. No religion teaches us how to hate people. Every religion teaches us how to love each other.
