June 18th
No class due to the 'kannon senbo', the confession of the wrongdoing to the Bodhisattva at the Myoshinji Temple's ceremonial gate (the huge red gate by the Buddha Hall) between 8:30 AM and 11:30 AM. On this day, you can go up to the top of the gate to see the ceremony, the statues of Bodhisattva and lohans, and the painting on the walls and ceiling. This happens once a year (on June 18th every year).

When you can understand the practical reasons why the Zen traditional practices and rituals were done in the certain way, you are able to incorporate Zen Buddhist philosophy and meditation into your life. Rev. Taka Kawakami answer your questions about Zen Buddhism and meditation. The idea of "living in a moment" can change your life.

Zen meditation class & tour in English: 2000 yen
Zen meditation only: 1000 yen

A portion of your meditation fee goes to the donation to the victims in the affected areas from the earthquake and tsunami on March 11th, 2011.

To attend the class at 9:00 - 10:30 and 10:40 -12:10, no reservation is required. However, please the reservation to attend our 13:30 - 15:00 class.
