New Year's Eve: Snow in Kyoto

It's snowing in Kyoto on this new year's eve. We might have good mount of snow on the ground on new year days (Jan. 1st - 3rd).

For tonight (new year's eve), I recommend you to go Chio-in Temple and Yasaka Shrine. There are a lot of activities around there.

Anyway, thank you for all visitors who come to Shunkoin Temple. I wish you will have a wonderful new year in 2011.

JET Discount between January and March 2011

Shunkoin Temple restarted JET discount. If you are in the JET program and stay at Shunkoin Temple with another person or more, you receive 10% discount for your stay. Also, you can join Zen meditation class as many as you would like. This is a limited offer between January 1st and March 30th, 2011.

Zen Meditation Class (90 minutes)

In our Zen meditation class, we start with the instruction of the meditation (10 min.). Then, we do two fifteen-minute meditation session. After the meditation, we will show and explain the historical artifacts of the temple (30 min.). Vice Abbot, Rev. Kawakami, leads our class in English. You can learn how to incorporate Zen Buddhist philosophy and meditation into your life style.
